Nepal Trek

This trek was a delight and an unusual adventure. Our plan was to journey to the home village of Dhiren Rai, John's long-time assistant and a good friend, for a few days during the festival of Tihar. We would then walk North through a little-visited part of Eastern Nepal to join the main trekking route to Lukla. John and Martin would head off to the East for a more ambitious trek and we would fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu.

The first half of our route was through an area seldom visited by outsiders. We didn't see any Western faces for about a week.

We have selected 92 of the 278 pictures David took during the trek. The images on the web site are "snapshot" format, about 1/4th the size of the originals. If you have a particular favorite, We can send an original by email.

Two (2) of the pictures are "Panorama" shots comprised of two or more individual pictures merged with Autostitch, a wonderful piece of free software. The panorama shots are 528 pixels high and as wide as they need to be to show the whole view at that height; use the scroll bar at the bottom of your browser window to move to the right for more of the image.

Let us know what you think, and enjoy the tour. Click on the "Nepal Trek" link in the upper-left corner of this page or any of the destination links below to get started.
